Port Stephens is often referred to as the "Blue Water Paradise", and it is little wonder with its picturesque harbour and sandy beaches that stretch from Soldiers Point to it's harbour entrance. There are a dozen beaches within a five-minute drive from the Aloha Villa Motel. Harbour beaches such as Shoal Bay Beach and Little Beach are very popular with families and are safe for children. Little Beach also has the Port's best boat-ramp where you can see fishermen cleaning their catch as they arrive back from bay or sea.
The fishing at Broughton Island, some fourteen miles north of the Port by sea, is a must for the keen angler. Charter boats visit these fishing grounds on a regular basis at moderate fees. Other nearby beaches are Nelson Bay Beach, with its busy d'Albora Marina. Here a fleet of Dolphin Cruise vessels await you for a delightful encounter with the many resident dolphins that call the Port home. Port Stephens is acclaimed "The Dolphin Capital of Australia". In June - September Port Stephen's local charter company also offers whale cruises. The cruises provide boom nets where you can be very close to these magnificent creatures. The Marina is a must to visit. Linger over a meal at one of the marvelous cafe's or restaurants, taking in the panoramic views across the bay to Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest. Dolphin and whale cruises can be orgainised by Aloha Villa Motel and packages can be created to suit your needs. For more information contact us or visit Moonshadow's web site.
